Wings Taking A Fall Flight

 Can I just start with saying man winning feels good. It is something that A Red Wings fan should be used after all its one of the most storied franchises in hockey. Though things just haven't seemed to go that way under Coach Blashill it was always a winning culture in hockeytown. You saw a lot of folks casually writing them off before the holidays even hit season after season after he took over. Now it looks as though those times are long gone and we have a head coach in Derek Lalonde that wants to win all the time. So the Yzerplan seems too be taking off providing some early wins. Everybody loves wins!

This got me thinking, not only about how far this team could go in the near future, but how they are really built to win now. I could throw a boatload of stats showing how despite a few down years are still one of the highest winning teams ever and hold leads against just about every team out there. I really thought this was more widely known then it is but here's the records for you take a look if you don't believe me:

We should all know this so there you go! So we know the Red Wings have it in their blood, but ,heres why I think this could be a bigger threat this year then what most think. 

Too start the young core of this team is really shining like woah, who thought Raymond was coming out of camp a top line player last year? Not me that's for sure we did know Seider was going to be a staple and the progression of those two needs too continue. Soderblom of course is an easy pick after a story book start to his carrer. But, the bigger piece is the guys that didn't make it out the gate this year im talking about Edvinsson, Berrgren, Cossa, Mcisaac, Viro, Brattstrom. Just to name a few that could come up soon there is a youth movement here that they haven't seen in years and rightfully so when you stock picks for a few years. So will any of these guys show up and help the Wings make a big push in the spring? Tough too tell right now only because the string of vets that they have injured/away from the team. 

Yes, im talking about Fabbri, Vrana, Bertuzzi, wow think about that line for a sec? I think just about any team anywhere would take that line as there second or third and just skyrocket. You may be saying Second, Third what Bertuzzi is a top line guy you crazy man. But listen Lalonde has shown he doesn't stick to this Top line big three BS Blashill did he isn't afraid to mix and match things to what works. Personally I love that, play your guys where they perform the best not where the PR room wants them. I mean those three even separated and sprinkled throughout this lineup is an immediate boost of shooting, playmaking, and toughness. Those three bring such a different skill-set and all have the history of being on top 6 forward groups. Add in the recent injury to Zadina and there is surely roster spots for these guys.

So you take those guys and then think about Walman and Pysyk coming back. Most of those names I mentioned are defenseman. So, maybe there isn't enough room for everyone too have a piece of pie, So how do the Wings get these young guys up and start theire careers with so many good veteran players coming back soon I do not know but they surely can't keep them down forever and I think it shows that they can win now and win a lot more then people think. They may have no choice but to keep them down. Unless they make a big move around Trade deadline time. 

They are after all a team that has surprised early and its doesn't seem like a fluke. Of course it's a good thing they are winning but most said ah one more you need one more year got some of these young guys up develop them blah blah blah. They can win now if they get healthy and Vrana comes back look out, this team has the lineups to match anyone in the league. Maybe they make a big move maybe they stay the course but the Wings taking off this early in the year means they have a lot more tough roster decisions to make in the next few months. When you have a lot of success like they look like they do this early you typically see a move made around trade deadline time. But, they are getting so many guys back too, oh man look out this flight may not come down anytime soon and we all need too stay tuned heading into the holidays. This team will be making headlines that's a sure thing!
